Department of Theater

Delve into global theater studies and hands-on practice within a premier professional school setting.

Theater

Our students become well-rounded artists and researchers by immersing themselves in their chosen areas as well as exploring the other creative disciplines that are available.

Located between ocean and mountains, grit and glamour, the Theater Department welcomes students to Los Angeles with a rigorous program combining UCLA’s academic excellence and the School of Theater, Film and Television’s professional school training.

We are committed to bringing world-class university research to the grand challenges facing the world of theater and performance today by fostering an ever-diversifying community of playwrights, designers, directors, scholars, and performers. Through deep engagement with the changing landscape of contemporary performance, diverse and dynamic faculty leadership, and creative collaboration across the campus and Los Angeles’ communities, UCLA Theater showcases the future of performance.
