UCLA THEATER WORKSHOPS
The UCLA Theater Workshops provide artists with the opportunity to work in-person and remotely with our distinguished faculty throughout the year. Students will be able to further cultivate their craft through our intensive acting, camera acting, musical theater and voice-over institutes. Each institute has been carefully designed to nurture every actor and propel them forward into their next phase of development. Participation in these institutes is open to high school, college, and professional artists.
The Hair and Makeup is a one-week intensive for students interested in theater, film and television. This program provides opportunities to work with our distinguished faculty in classes such as History of Theatrical Makeup and Hair Design, Wig Workshop and Theatrical Makeup and Wig application. The combination of these courses will allow students to use the training to bring stories to life through their designs. Students will learn the history and impact of these disciplines, the ability to break down a script, the art of collaboration with directors, and portfolio and career preparation while gaining hands-on experience in research and application of makeup and wigs. Beyond the classroom, students will participate in a fieldtrip to the wig store.
The program is designed for college and high school students along with recent graduates who seek the discipline and training required for participation in a university on-camera program or a career in the entertainment industry.
The UCLA Summer Camera Acting Workshop is a one-week intensive for students interested in the performing arts. This program encompasses on-camera work, audition technique and scene analysis. The combination of these courses will teach every student about the process of relating to the camera lens and strategy to understanding a script so that specific choices can be made to prepare and connect in the audition room. Students will learn the technical components of acting for the camera and filming content. Beyond the classroom, students will attend a guest casting workshop, and following the completion of the workshop, will have an edited scene of their work that can be used for their reel.
The program is designed for college and high school students along with recent graduates who seek the discipline and training required for participation in a university on-camera program or a career in the entertainment industry.
