Laura B. Abellan

MFA Student, Producer's Program

Laura B. Abellan is a film producer originally from La Coruña, Spain currently living in LA. She specializes in emotionally layered, character-driven narratives that explore themes of magical realism, memory, and personal transformation. Currently pursuing her MFA in Film and Television Production in the Producers Program at UCLA, she is drawn to stories where the rawness of reality meets the magic of everyday life.

Before joining UCLA, Laura worked across a variety of roles in the U.S. film and television industry. She worked in production at AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead, assisted actor Jay Hernandez on the feature film The Long Game, and became a VFX coordinator at Lola Visual Effects. These experiences gave her a grounded, hands-on understanding of the production process and strengthened her commitment to supporting emotionally resonant stories.

Her recent producing work includes Godhead (2025), a psychological drama exploring grief and faith, which has been selected at the Arkansas Film Festival. Prior to her move to Los Angeles, Laura worked at Bambú Producciones, one of Spain’s most internationally recognized television companies. She is a recipient of the competitive La Caixa Fellowship, which supports Spanish postgraduates studying abroad.

Laura is committed to support high-concept stories that are socially resonant and a little bit magical. As a producer, she hopes to keep building meaningful collaborations and helping stories find their best possible shape. Over the past year, she has completed internships at Gaumont International Television, Pinnacle Peak Pictures, and Valhalla Entertainment, where she has deepened her insight into creative development, international co-productions, and the inner workings of story-driven content for a global audience.
