Barbie Ross
M.F.A Student, Screenwriting
Barbie Ross is a Screenwriting MFA candidate, originally from Houston, Texas. Barbie crafts female-driven stories exploring the complexities of modern millennial experiences, focusing on friendship, family, love, and the often-hilarious struggles of single life. While comedy is her primary focus, her time at UCLA has allowed her to explore other creative avenues, including writing an hour-long drama pilot and a nostalgic jukebox musical for the stage. Following a decade-long career at Apatow Productions, Barbie returned to UCLA to prove age is just a number (and perhaps a great source of comedic inspiration too). Barbie’s claim to fame is having been dubbed “TV’s Biggest Fan” by CBS, which resulted in a delightfully awkward on-screen Emmy bit with Neil Patrick Harris. Now, she’s pouring all her life experience and passion into her screenwriting, and hoping to create stories that resonate with audiences.
