Daniel Olivas

Director of Animation Resources

Daniel Olivas is the Head of Stop Motion in the Animation Workshop at UCLA. He has worked as an animator on series such as Robot Chicken, Marvel’s MODOK, Storybots, and Santa Inc. He was born in San Diego and attended UC Davis where he double majored in with BA’s in Art Studio & Film Studies, and received his MFA at UCLA in Animation.

Since 2022, he has been the Director of Animation Resources where he maintains Lab responsibilities throughout the workshop, monitors hardware and troubleshoots with software. Olivas also conducts studio outreach and internship opportunities for students. With the goal to expand and improve the Animation program, Olivas spends a lot of time with research and development that coincides with entertainment and industry goals and standards.

He is currently teaching FTV 188A – Stop Motion Animation at the UCLA Animation Workshop which is held in the Winter/Spring quarters of the academic year.
