
Ángel Granados
Lecturer
Ángel Granados (he/him) is an award-winning director and cinematographer whose work spans narrative features, documentaries, political advertisements, and legal films. His filmmaking and photography work has taken him to 5 continents, and have been screened at international festivals, including SXSW. His current feature narrative film, Seahorse (2022), is currently featured nationally on TubiTV.com
From 2010 to 2014, Ángel was an in-house cinematographer, editor, and producer for the American Society of Cinematographers and American Cinematographer Magazine. As founder of Civil Twilight Pictures, Ángel partners with Strike for Cause Jury Consultants to create impactful narrative-driven legal media.
Ángel brings his expertise to the classroom. In addition to UCLA, he currently teaches MFA Intermediate Filmmaking, Advanced Cinematography, and Aerial Cinematography at San Diego State University. He was an Assistant Professor at Howard University School of Communications in Washington, D.C., and co-founded an international Summer filmmaking program at Universidad Panamericana in Mexico City, where he served as Head of Production from 2014 to 2018. In 2011, he completed a fellowship at the Global Cinematography Institute under founders Vilmos Zsigmond, ASC, and Yuri Neyman, ASC.
Ángel holds a Master of Fine Arts degree in Cinematography from UCLA, and an Master of Arts degree in Production/Directing from San Diego State University.
