Alex O’Flinn

Lecturer

Alex O’Flinn is a Film Editor in Los Angeles.  Some of his credits include “Expats” for director Lulu Wang, “The Underground Railroad” for director Barry Jenkins, “The Rider” for director Chloé Zhao,  “A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night” for director Ana Lily Amirpour, “The OA” for showrunners Zal Batmanglig and Brit Marling and “Jawline” for director Liza Mandelup.  In 2017 he received a “Best Editing” nomination from The Independent Spirit Awards for his work on “The Rider”, and in 2022 he received a Peabody Award for his work on “The Underground Railroad”.  His work has also screened at Sundance, Directors’ Fortnight Cannes, Toronto, Telluride, Berlin and the Venice Film Festival.  He also serves as an editing advisor and mentor for Film Independent’s Project Involve and has been an editing advisor for The Sundance Institute’s Documentary Edit and Story Lab, Film Independent’s Director’s Lab and Film Independent’s Documentary Lab.   

Alex received his B.A. in English from Kenyon College, and his M.F.A. in Film Production from UCLA.
