The Actors Gang at UCLA: Open Workshop | 2026

Students in the Winter 2026 Theater 138 course have spent 10 weeks training in The Actors’ Gang’s uniquely evolved ensemble practice under instructors Hannah Chodos, Brett Hinkley, Kate Mulligan and Tim Robbins.

We welcome you to the theater for an evening of live, improvised performance. Actors embody the archetypal characters of the commedia dell’arte, and work in the highly stylized, physicalized form for improvisation known as The Style. As The Actors’ Gang company delves into Elmer Rice’s iconic play, The Adding Machine, our UCLA ensemble explores the images of 1920’s expressionism – with costume design by UCLA Costume MFA, Ana Wang.
