Theater Laboratory Intensives

Program Overview

The UCLA Camera Acting Laboratory Intensive is a 3–5-day workshop for students interested in the performing arts. This program encompasses on-camera work, audition technique and scene analysis. The combination of these courses will teach every student about the process of relating to the camera lens and strategy to understanding a script so that specific choices can be made to prepare and connect in the audition room. Students will learn the technical components of acting for the camera and filming content. Beyond the classroom, students will attend a guest casting workshop.

The UCLA Musical Theater Laboratory Intensive is a 3-5-day workshop for students interested in the performing arts. This program encompasses singing, dance, and scene study. The combination of these courses will teach every student about the various aspects of the musical, along with providing the tools to make specific choices that can be applied in the audition room.

The UCLA Stage Management Laboratory Intensive is a 3-5-day workshop for students interested in the performing arts. This program focuses on the study and application of stage management, theater history, leadership, teamwork, and problem solving.

The UCLA Transfer Laboratory Intensive is a 3-day workshop for students interested in transferring to UCLA. This program offers an introduction to some of the major emphases and includes classes in audition technique, directing and costume design. The combination of these courses will provide every student with the necessary tools to be successful as a student and professional within the entertainment industry.
