Alan Armstrong’s credits for costume design include work for Theatro Di Roma, The English Theater of Vienna, The Old Globe (San Diego), The Mark Taper Forum, Santa Fe Stages, Alabama Shakespeare Festival, The James Doolittle Theater, The Huntington Theater, and the Matrix Theater. Armstrong has delivered lectures and gallery talks at museums around the country, including the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. As a consultant for the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, he is involved in the creation of several costume exhibits including the annual “Hollywood Costume Exhibit.” He is a specialist in Shakespearean and classical theater costume design, and other areas of interest and research include: collage rendering, Elizabethan dress, and 18th century modes and manners. He has also worked with major film costume designers creating the research components of several films.
