Overview
The UCLA Department of Film, Television and Digital Media is seeking a Residential Program Manager to support UCLA Emerging Filmmakers.

The Residential Program Manager is a live-in, full-time professional staff. The Residential Program Manager oversees the residential component for pre-college students, and manages a team of Residential Program Staff. They ensure safety through effective crisis response, and engage in a multitude of tasks to support UCLA Emerging Filmmakers operations.

DESCRIPTION OF JOB DUTIES
Basic duties involve, but are not limited to:
- Train, supervise and advise residential program staff.
- Manage Crisis response (active duty coverage), counseling and high level conduct management, under the supervision of the Director of Entrepreneurial Programs.
- Work with the Director to meet minor supervision needs of classes, programmatic activities, and other parameters.
- Work with the Director to finalize Pre-College Program Staff schedules and adjust as necessary.
- Know, uphold, and enforce On-Campus Housing and University Regulations.
- Manage behavioral issues with students, and report promptly to Director of Entrepreneurial Programs.
- Supervise and maintain accountability for participants throughout the progra
- Document incidents and policy violations accurately, following established reporting procedures.
- Lead and supervise evening activities as needed.
- Respond effectively to crises and emergencies by assessing immediate needs, ensuring student safety, and accompanying minors to the UCLA Ashe Center or UCLA Ronald Reagan Emergency Room during medical emergencies until a parent or guardian arrives.
Requirements
The Residential Program Manager is required to live in the residential halls for the duration of the program (June 21 – August 1, 2026). All Residential Program Staff will receive a meal plan, with breakfast and dinner daily.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience working with minors is required.
- Experience working in youth programming is required.
- Demonstrated experience in coaching, mentoring, and supervision of student staff.
- Must complete a fingerprinting/live scan background check through the University of California Police Department.
- Must complete program-specific training in UCLA policies regarding minors, including, but not limited to CANRA, Title IX, and cyber security, as well as attend an online golf cart training program.
- Must be able to lift 20 lbs.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be comfortable driving a golf cart.
- Must uphold all CANRA and TITLE IX policies, including serving as a mandated reporter. Must report all incidents to appropriate personnel including, but not limited to, departmental supervisors, administrative employees, residential supervisors, and the University of California Police Department.
- Must be available evenings and weekends, and must be available on-call for any situations that may arise.
SUMMER PROGRAMS STAFF MUST:
- Comply with UCLA policies and procedures and act consistently with the University’s mission and guiding principles.
- Be well-versed on the UCLA Student Conduct Code and the policies of UCLA Emerging Filmmakers, as well as the Office of Residential Life policies, if applicable.
- Play an integral role in achieving the highest level of academic, personal, and social development for program participants.
- Help provide a safe learning environment by ensuring program rules, regulations, and safety expectations are followed.
- Be able to move above and beyond the basic requirements of tasks given to be proactive in supporting the students, industry mentors, staff, and programs.
- Be self-starters and take pride in work well done and in a timely fashion.
- Enforce housing policies to maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for all residents.
- Be a positive role model to young storytellers. Positive role models are encouraging, supportive, and responsible.
COMPENSATION
$27-28/hour

They cultivate an inclusive environment, organize events that promote interaction, guide residents toward academic and personal success, ensure safety through effective crisis response, and engage in a multitude of tasks to support UCLA Emerging Filmmakers operations.

DESCRIPTION OF JOB DUTIES

- Supervise and maintain accountability for participants throughout the program.

- Generate reports on student attendance and in-class behavioral logs using spreadsheet and database software.
- Escort students between the dorms, Melnitz Hall, and other UCLA facilities for classes and program activities.
- Lead and supervise evening activities as needed.
- Supervise students during meal breaks.
- Act as in-class behavioral monitor for classes with minors. Report behavioral issues and incidents to industry mentor, program coordinators, and Director of Entrepreneurial Programs.
- Collect student phones at the start of class and return them at the end.
- Chaperone program activities both on and off campus and escort students to lunch as needed.
- Respond effectively to crises and emergencies by assessing immediate needs, ensuring student safety, and accompanying minors to the UCLA Ashe Center or UCLA Ronald Reagan Emergency Room during medical emergencies until a parent or guardian arrives.
- Lead student discussions on assigned screenings, guided activities, and homework.

Pre-College Assistant Coordinators support the following UCLA FTVDM Summer Programs: Digital Filmmaking, Writing for TV, Media Parks, Cinematography and Traditional Animation. The position directly supports the Pre-College Coordinator, the Director of Entrepreneurial Programs, and Summer Programs Deputy. Pre-College Assistant Coordinators work in collaboration with the Residential Program Staff Lead and Summer Programs Coordinator. Together, this team provides programmatic and administrative support to all programs.
This is an in-person position. It will be part-time from April through early June. From June 22 to July 31, during program dates, Assistant Coordinators will work full-time, averaging 40+ hours per week, with some overtime, evenings, and weekends required. From August 1 to August 8, the position will be part-time.

DESCRIPTION OF JOB DUTIES
MAIN JOB DUTIES:
- Support the Pre-College Coordinator in managing curricular scheduling, academic field trips, screenings, welcome events, closing ceremonies, special events, and addressing student disciplinary issues across pre-college programs.
- Coordinate catering orders for events, including lunches and final ceremonies.
- Assist Pre-College Coordinator in coordinating with industry mentors, and other instructional support in preparation for their courses.
- Interface with other TFT organizations, such as the Business Office, I.T. Support, and Student Services in the successful completion of programmatic tasks.
- Support the administration of programmatic procedures, including online safety training, liability release forms, and BruinLearn.
- Manage a team of program support staff and lead staff meetings.
- Support the procurement of props, costumes, and other supplies needed for film productions, whether through TFT entities or outside vendors.
- Book transportation and manage communication for all field trips.
- Coordinate housing assignments for all students.
- Wrap up all outstanding action items at the end of program.
- Available to be on call after hours in case of emergencies either remotely and/or in person.
- Interfaces and communicates with parents and students.

MAIN JOB DUTIES
- Aid the Director of Entrepreneurial Programs, the Summer Programs Deputy, the Pre-College Coordinator, Production Coordinators, and the Pre-College Assistant Coordinators for the Department of Film, Television, and Digital Media as directed.
- Support office staff in clerical duties, such as printing, copying, filing and organization.
- Hands-on support including organizing supplies, updating inventory and printing certificates.
- Complete ServSafe California Food Handler Certificate training.
- Facilitate food set-up, restocking, and event-related cleaning duties for closing ceremonies as well as provide craft services support during final shoots.
- Support or lead program activities and events, such as set-up, check-in, and break-down, and clean-up following each program event.
- Help capture videos to promote positive learning experiences and events on Emerging Filmmakers social media sites.
- Be ready for the unexpected and help staff solve issues in the office, on film shoots, and during events with composure and positivity.
OPTIONAL ON-CAMPUS HOUSING:
Optional on-campus housing is available in the UCLA Residential Halls for the duration of the program (June 21–August 1, 2026) and includes two meals per day. Staff who choose to live on-campus will be assigned additional duties, compensated through additional paid hours, including leading some evening activities for students.
Requirements
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience with office/administrative tasks is required.
- Experience with office software programs such as Word and Excel required.
- A flexible schedule with some weekend, evening, and early morning availability is required.
- Experience with High School and College-aged students is preferred.
- Must complete a fingerprinting/live scan background check with UCPD, a requirement for working with minors at UCLA.
- Complete a food-handling certificate is required.
- Attend one day of in-person training and online golf cart training.

Overview
UCLA Film & Television Emerging Filmmakers is seeking a Writing Coordinator to support students in the Pre-College Writing for TV track.
Appointment: June 7 – August 8, 2026

During the summer, the Department of Film, Television and Digital Media welcomes high school students to study in a supportive environment that fosters community and diverse perspectives. This position is key to a successful summer and offers a dynamic and positive work environment where no two days are alike. The Writing Coordinator works directly with students in the UCLA Emerging Filmmakers Writing for TV track. This role collaborates closely with the Pre-College Coordinator, the Pre-College Assistant Coordinator, and the industry mentors to provide programmatic support and guidance.
Candidates must have experience in screenwriting—preferably in screenwriting for television. Candidates must be reliable, possess clear communication skills, and a knowledge of TV writing protocols. This position leads writing groups as a supplement to the students’ lectures and core curriculum, supporting students throughout the writing process through exercises, thoughtful discussions, and constructive feedback.
This position is in-person. Hours will vary but are projected to be:
- June 7 – June 21: Approximately 20 hours a week to prep course materials. Some remote work.
- June 22 – July 19: Approximately full-time to support on-campus programs.
- July 20 – August 8: Approximately 10-20 hours a week to support the virtual program.

- Create a detailed lesson plan document for review by Program Staff.
- Attend all class sessions and writing workshop days.
- Collaborate with Summer Program Coordinators to schedule guest speakers and organize the Final Table Reads.
- Coordinate and set up zoom meetings for guest speakers and students.
- Oversee and lead pilot screenings as well as subsequent workshop discussions.
- Coordinate with industry mentors and students to ensure all writing deadlines and program requirements are met.
- Review student scripts for content, cast actors, and compile visual decks for the final table reads and ceremony.

UCLA Film & Television Emerging Filmmakers is seeking Production Coordinators to support summer programs. There are multiple positions available with various appointment end dates.

Production Coordinators work directly with the Lead Production Coordinator, industry mentors, and summer staff to support UCLA Film & Television Summer Programs. Candidates for this position must have on-set experience, preferably as a director, first assistant director, director of photography, and/or assistant camera. Candidates must be reliable, communicative, and able to follow film production protocols. Each Production Coordinator will lead production workshops and guide production groups of high school students throughout the filmmaking process, including overseeing their final film projects as the group’s first assistant director. Candidates will work in an educational setting and must remain patient, calm under pressure, and able to problem-solve while mentoring students.
This position is in-person. Hours will vary:
- Appointment A: June 8 – August 1, 2026
- Prep Weeks (6/08 – 6/21): Part-time hours, approximately 10 – 20 hours a
- Program Weeks (6/22 – 8/1): Approximately 30 – 40+ hours a week, with weekend and evening hours, Candidates will work at least 12-hours on film shoot days.

DESCRIPTION OF JOB DUTIES
MAIN JOB DUTIES:
- Serve as 1st Assistant Director for student shoots.
- Serve as Line Producer for student shoots.
- Oversee and guide the props & costumes pick-up and return appointments.
- Be present on all shoot days and ensure film shoots go smoothly.
- Work closely with Summer Program staff on all aspects of production, including cast and crew releases, catering, crafty, props pick-up and drop-off, costumes pick-up and drop-off, purchases, parking for actors and MUA.
- Oversee & guide equipment inventory check-outs and check-ins.
- Lead production workshops on topics like screenwriting format, production prep materials, and editing.
- Assist industry mentors with administrative duties for class, including photocopies.
- Coordinate with industry mentors to make sure students meet deadlines and requirements for deliverables.
OPTIONAL ON-CAMPUS HOUSING:
Optional on-campus housing is available in the UCLA Residential Halls for the duration of the program (June 21–August 1, 2026) and includes two meals per day. Staff who choose to live on-campus will be assigned additional duties, compensated through additional paid hours, including leading some evening activities for students.
Requirements

Candidates must have on-set experience, preferably as a cinematographer, assistant camera, or gaffer. Candidates must be reliable, communicative, and able to follow film production protocols. Candidates will work in an educational setting and must remain patient, calm under pressure, and able to problem-solve while mentoring students. Candidates must be willing to lead cinematography workshops and guide students on how to handle equipment and practice lighting set-ups.
This position is in-person. Hours will vary but are projected to be:
- Prep Weeks (6/08 – 6/21): Part-time hours, approximately 10 – 20 hours per week.
- Program Weeks (6/22 – 07/31): Full-time with weekend and evening hours the weeks June 22, July 6, July 13, July 27 at approximately 40 hours a week. For weeks without programs, part-time hours where cinematography production coordinators will assist with filming and photographing other summer programs.
