
Irena Jacobs
Lecturer
Irena Jacobs is an art director and scenic designer, originally from Lazarevac, Serbia. She holds a Master of Fine Arts in Entertainment Design from UCLA’s School of Theater, Film, and Television, a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from Arizona State University, and a contractor’s license in stone masonry.
After working for five years as the owner and operator of Stone Masons, Inc., a company specializing in residential stone installations, Irena found a new passion in designing for theater and film.
As an art director for film and television, she has worked on projects such as Disney’s Mufasa, Marvel Studios’ Loki, Netflix’s Santa Clarita Diet, AJ & The Queen, and Atlas, as well as a reboot of Matlock for CBS Studios. Irena shares an Emmy and Art Directors Guild award with her team on Marvel Studios’ WandaVision, lead by Production Designer Mark Worthington.
As a theater designer, some of Irena’s credits include designing The Mother of Us All opera and Helen of Troy at UCLA, as well as a production of Samuel Beckett’s Quad I & II for The Hammer Museum/LA Opera with director Michael Hackett.
Irena has served as a guest lecturer at Arizona State University and Tufts University, and at multiple architectural design firms, including Orcutt Winslow, RSP Architects, and the American Institute of Architects Arizona Chapter.
