Julia Moser

M.F.A Student, Screenwriting

Julia Moser (she/her) is a Los Angeles native with a background in broadcast news. After graduating with honors as a history major from Cornell University, Julia spent two years as the audience coordinator for Good Morning America in New York City where she was primarily responsible for wrangling fans in Times Square every morning. She worked on everything from the Summer Concert Series to town halls with presidential candidates. Julia then went on to produce BuzzFeed News’ AM to DM, a live morning show streamed on Twitter. She produced segments with politicians, activists, celebrities, and Gritty. Julia eventually made her way back to Los Angeles where used her knowledge of local L.A. politics and history as a producer for Inside the Issues with Alex Cohen at Spectrum News 1. She enrolled in UCLA’s Screenwriting MFA program in Fall 2023 after realizing that she had more creative ambitions than journalism could offer. In her time at UCLA, Julia has written a neo-noir about two women journalists in 1920s Los Angeles, a half-hour comedy pilot about a Love Island-esque reality TV show filming during the apocalypse, and an adaptation of the short story “The Girls in their Summer Dresses” by Irwin Shaw, among others. Her work mostly features difficult women.
