Flatbed Suites

Locations: Melnitz 2443, 2445, 2449, 2451, 2453, 2455, 2571

While the entertainment industry has turned to the use of digitial recording for most productions these days, our cinematographers learn to use film as well as digital technology for their projects. Because of this, we have seven Flatbed Suites dedicated to film editing. Each of the suites contains a single flatbed editor machine, take-up reels and sync blocks. All of the flatbed editors are capable of playing back one roll of 16mm picture and two rolls of 16mm mag track sound at a time. Our philosophy is that students learn best practices in the art of editing by actually working with film.
