Three UCLA TFT alumni were recent Tony Award nominees

Producer SARAHBETH GROSSMAN’s (B.A. ’83) musical An American in Paris, nominated for 12 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, became a four-time winner during the 69th Annual Tony Awards on Sunday, June 7. The Palace Theatre musical received awards in the categories of scenic design, costume design, lighting and choreography at the Radio City Music Hall ceremony, which aired live on CBS.

Producer PAMELA COOPER (M.F.A. '76) was nominated in the category of Best Revival of a Musical for On the Town, playing at Manhattan's Lyric Theatre; and director JOHN RANDO (M.F.A. '88), a 2002 Tony Award winner for his direction of the musical Urinetown, was nominated in the category of Best Direction of a Musical for On the Town.

Cooper and Grossman were also nominated for 2015 Drama Desk Awards for their respective shows. Cooper was previously a Tony nominee in 2012 as a producer of Best Musical hopeful Leap of Faith.

The Tony Awards nominations were revealed on Tuesday, April 28 by actors Mary-Louise Parker and Bruce Willis.
