Josh Epstein
Lecturer
Josh Epstein is a lighting designer for theater, opera and dance as well as environmental and event spaces. He has created the lighting design for many of the top regional theaters and opera companies in the country including Mark Taper Forum, Geffen Playhouse, Kirk Douglas Theatre, Pasadena Playhouse, Guthrie Theater, Goodman Theatre, Minnesota Opera, Philadelphia Theatre Company, Opera Santa Barbara, Fort Worth Opera, Trinity Repertory Company, Baltimore Center Stage, Berkshire Opera Company, Long Wharf Theatre, Paper Mill Playhouse, Alliance Theatre, Wolf Trap Opera Company, Actors Theatre of Louisville, Playmakers Repertory Company and Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, to name a few.
Prior to teaching at the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television, Epstein served as adjunct faculty at Sarah Lawrence College in New York. He is a recipient of the NEA/TCG Career Development Program for Designers and a Member of the O’Neill National Playwrights Conference Artistic Council.
Epstein received his bachelor of arts degree from the University of Chicago and his master of fine arts degree from NYU Tisch School of the Arts. He lives in Los Angeles with his wife and three daughters.
