VIDEO: Student actors in Geffen's "Nightmare Alley"
TFT Professor Gil Cates directs current students and alum Larry Cedar in new musical melodrama
UCLA Theater majors Burke Walton (junior) and Travis Leland (freshman) describe their experiences working on the professional equity production of the world premiere musical “Nightmare Alley” at the Geffen Playhouse, a strategic partner of the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television. The show’s book, music and lyrics are written by Jonathan Brielle and it is directed by Gilbert Cates, UCLA professor. The two students, who play “Roustabouts,” join an impressive ensemble of actors including James Barbour (“Beauty and the Beast,” “Carousel” and “Urinetown”) and award-winning actor of stage, film and television, alumnus Larry Cedar (HBO’s hit “Deadwood”).
