Your Checklist

For Transfer students applying from a school other than from UCLA, the application deadline has CLOSED. Please refer back to this site in Fall 2012 for application information and deadlines for Fall 2013.

The information below is ONLY for CURRENT UCLA students wanting to change majors to Film, Television and Digital Media for Fall 2012.

POSTMARK DEADLINE FOR CHANGE OF MAJORS APPLICATIONS: FEBRUARY 17, 2012

All the Theater, Film and Television degree programs are full-time, day-time programs. We only accept students for the Fall Quarter.

Attention: The Bachelor of Arts in Film and Television is a two year, upper division program for students who have completed two years of general education courses. We do not admit at the freshman level.

Students admitted to Film are not permitted to change their major to Theater.

Application Requirements

  • Be a current UCLA student with a declared major
  • Will be starting the third year of UCLA in Fall 2012
  • Will have completed the GE requirements by Fall 2012
  • Submit the following application supporting material directly to the Department by the Postmark Deadline of Friday, February 17, 2012. The supporting materials must be typed and double-spaced on 8-1/2 by 11 paper with at least a 12 point font. Applicants must follow these guidelines or the application will not be read.
    • Complete the Supplemental Materials PDF
    • Unofficial college transcripts
    • Two letters of recommendations
    • A personal essay (2 pages). Put your name on every page, put “Personal Essay” on the first page.
    • A critical essay (3 pages). Put your name on every page, put “Critical Essay” on the first page.
    • A creative writing sample (5 pages). Put your name on every page, put “Creative Writing” on the first page.

For U.S. Citizens and Permanent Residents interested in receiving financial aid in Fall 2012, note that the Fellowship Application and Financial Aid Application (FAFSA) deadline for UCLA is March 2, 2012. Applicants must complete the FAFSA by this date if they want to be eligible for all awards, work-study, and scholarships that UCLA offers.
