Your Checklist

All the Theater, Film and Television degree programs are full-time, day-time programs. We only accept students for the Fall Quarter, and this admissions information is for Fall Quarter 2010 (our next admissions period).

Attention: The Bachelor of Arts in Film and Television is a two year, upper division program for students who have completed two years of general college studies. We do not admit at the freshman level.
Attention: Students admitted to Film are not permitted to change their major to Theater.

  • Apply online to UC between November 1 and 30, 2009
  • Check “Film, Television, & Digital Media” as major in UC Application. Do not choose a second major.
  • Submit the following application supporting material directly to the Department by Friday, January 29, 2010. The supporting materials must be typed and double-spaced on 8-1/2 by 11 paper with at least a 12 point font. Applicants must follow these guidelines or the application will not be read. The supporting materials should be sent to: Erica Flener, FTVDM Undergraduate Counselor, 103 East Melnitz Hall, UCLA Box 951622, Los Angeles, CA 90095-1622:
    • Complete the Supplemental Materials PDF
    • Unofficial college transcripts
    • Two letters of recommendations
    • A personal essay (2 pages). Staple pages together, put your name on every page, put “Personal Essay” on the first page.
    • A critical essay (3 pages). Staple pages together, put your name on every page, put “Critical Essay” on the first page.
    • A creative writing sample (5 pages). Staple pages together, put your name on every page, put “Creative Writing” on the first page.
