Your Checklist
All the Theater, Film and Television degree programs are full-time, day-time programs. We only accept students for the Fall Quarter, and this admissions information is for Fall Quarter 2010 (our next admissions period).
- Apply online to UCLA Graduate Division by November 2, 2009.
- Print and complete the Departmental application, view the Departmental application instructions, and choose MFA – Producers Program.
- Complete and submit the following supplemental information. All written Supporting Material must be typed and on 8½ by 11 paper with at least a 12-point font. The lengths indicated are the maximum allowed. Make sure your name is on each page and that all pages of each section are stapled together. Letters of Recommendation do not have to be typed on the form (Part D.) They may be submitted separately by your references. Please mail these documents postmarked by the November 2, 2009 deadline to Cheri Smith, UCLA Department of Film, Television and Digital Media, 103 E. Melnitz, Box 951622, Los Angeles, CA 90095-1622:
- Statement of Purpose. Explain career goals and potential as producer (where do you see yourself going 5-10 years from now and how can the Producers Program get you there? What projects have you done that demonstrate your potential as a producer?)
- A portfolio consisting of two treatments (no more than 3 pages each)
- Applicants have option to choose between Feature Film and/or Television Treatment
- Feature Film Treatment may include: title, logline, genre, and story synopsis
- Television Treatment may include: title, logline, genre, premise, short character description of major characters, and a brief synopsis of pilot episode
- Please do not send scripts, DVDs or tapes.
- Two official copies of each college/university transcript.
- Supplementary Forms available at UCLA Graduate Admissions.
- Statement of Purpose available at UCLA Graduate Admissions.
- Three Letters of Recommendation available at UCLA Graduate Admissions.
- Cross-Reference Sheet, if applicable available at UCLA Graduate Admissions.
For International Applicants whose first language is not English, scores from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or scores from the International English Language Testing System (IELTS). All international applicants must also submit the Confidential Financial Statement available at UCLA Graduate Admissions.
