
“Screendaily” reports that TFT alumnus Justin Lin ’95 will direct a film designed to relaunch the lucrative fantasy action series “Highlander.”
The 1986 original, directed by Russell Mulcahy and starring Christopher Lambert and Sean Connery, spun off several film sequels and a long-running syndicated televison series.
“Highlander” was the creation of another TFT alumnus, screenwriter Gergory Widen ’81, MFA ’85 (“Backdraft”).
As previously announced, “Iron Man screenwriters Art Marcum and Matt Holloway are writing the script and longtime “Highlander” series producer Peter Davis will produce.

The new version will develop the core mythology of immortals battling on Earth and is being eyed by Summit as a potential franchise.
