The “Los Angeles Times” reported recently, in two articles, that rocking TFT alumnus Jack Black is extending his flourishing acting career into a couple of new areas, helping to develop and starring in a new videogame, and making a guest appearence on the hit sit-com “The Office.”
The 39-year-old has been secretly working on a game called “Brutal Legend” that will debut on Sunday at the Spike TV Video Game Awards, which Black will host.
A cross between a Styx concert and World of Warcraft, the game lets players take on the role of Eddie Riggs, an anti-hero who’s transported back in time and asked to save an oppressed civilization. Eddie, voiced by Black, draws upon his dark and twisted imagination, plus his love of head-banging rock, to help battle evildoers.
In other news:
[Black will be] guest-starring in an episode [of “The Office”] slated to air during a ratings-rich time slot: after the Super Bowl.
The Feb. 1 episode of the sitcom, titled “Stress Relief,” will follow the office drones as they try to secretly watch a bootlegged Hollywood movie at work. The network did not say how Black will factor into the story line.
