Pacific Resident Theatre revival of erotic farce "Fata Morgana" praised by "Los Angeles Times," "LA Weekly, "Daily Variety""

A rare revival of Ernest Vajda’s 1924 comedy “Fata Morgana” (“Mirage”) at the Pacific Resident Theatre in Venice, has drawn praise from both the Los Angeles Times and the LA Weekly. The production was directed by Visiting Assistant Professor Marilyn Fox and includes Visiting Assistant Professor Scott Conte, alumnus Michael Hanson ’08 and current students Matt Soson and Ava Bogle in key roles.

The Times noted that “the poignant coming-of-age saga lurks within the risqué froth of Ernest Vajda’s 1924 romantic comedy. The obscure property is a natural for director Marilyn Fox, whose expert forces all peruse the same delightful page.” For the Weekly, “director Marilyn Fox’s psychologically assured production, blessed by Audrey Eisner’s gorgeous period costumes, possesses a delicate, melancholy emotional truth.”

According to “Daily Variety,” “In a superb perf as Gabriel, [Scott] Conte plays the confident lawyer full of twitchy, egotistical energy.”

The production continues through January 30.
