Brian Nelson follows "30 Days" with more Night

Playwriting alumnus Brian Nelson MFA ’87 (“Overlooked”), who made a transition to screenwriting with “Hard Candy” (2005) and “30 Days of Night” (2007), has signed to write “Devil,” the first production of the new banner Night Chronicles, a company set up by writer-director M. Night Shyamalan to produce genre films.

Daily Variety:

Supernatural thriller is based on an original story by Shyamalan, who’ll produce with Sam Mercer under the Night Chronicles banner. … MRC [Media Rights Capital] set the Night Chronicles as a financing and production partnership with Shyamalan in July. The company’s goal is to generate one genre film per year over three years, with Shyamalan hatching the ideas and overseeing the selection of talent and the creative direction.
