“Scribe Eric Roth (Forrest Gump, Munich) will be presented with the Distinguished Achievement in Screenwriting Award at the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television Screenwriters Showcase on June 9,” notes Variety in an article published on Monday, June 2.
Roth won the Samuel Goldwyn Writing Award while a student at UCLA and went on to write The Horse Whisperer, The Insider, Suspect, Ali and the forthcoming The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.
Roth will receive his award from fellow UCLA alumnus and Face/Off screenwriter Mike Werb MFA ’02 at the Writers Guild of America Theater in Hollywood. Scenes from seven prize-winning scripts will be presented during the Showcase event.
