Producers Program alumna directs and produces powerful films

Amy Duzinski Janes, a 2003 graduate of the UCLA Producers Program, has two documentaries in the pipeline — on closely related themes

Janes directed and edited “Kaziah the Goat Woman,” an expansion of her UCLA thesis film, which screened at the Berkeley Film Festival on September 26. It is a portrait of goat farmer Kaziah Hancock, whose vocation is painting portraits of American servicemen killed in action.

Janes worked as a producer on “As Seen Through These Eyes,” which opens in New York on October 2 and in Los Angeles on October 26.

Made in association with the Sundance Channel and narrated by Dr. Maya Angelou, “These Eyes” honors art and artists indelibly shaped by the Holocaust. It has won eight awards, including “Best Foreign Film” at the Thessaloniki International Documentary Film Festival.

Amy Janes started her career as a documentary editor and producer at a small production company in Boulder, CO. After attending UCLA, she was hired to run the feature film department at Parkchester Pictures, a Paramount-based production company.
