Theater alum Hollace Star ’96, MFA ’99 will direct a revival production of Bill Barker’s family ensemble comedy “Best Wishes,” which ran for nine straight months when it debuted in Los Angeles in 1986.
The play looks at a large family that comes together in the rural town of Liberal, Kansas, in the house they all grew up in, to pay their last respects to their mother. The story focuses on the relationships among the four sisters of the family, very different women whose childhood confilcts are still raw. The action takes place in 1981, before the technology boom of personal computers, cell phones and iPods, when families still had to deal with their problems face to face.
“Best Wishes” will be performed at the Crown City Theater on the campus of St. Matthew's Church at 11031 Camarillo Street in North Hollywood. There will be preview performances March 14th, 15th and 20th, with a regular run scheduled for March 21st thru April 19th, 2009. Performances are on Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m and on Sundays at 2 p.m. General admission $20; $5 off for students/seniors (code 007).
