As a follow-up to his acclaimed performance in the title role in a recent revival of “The Who’s Tommy,” theater grad Aleks Pevec ’07 has joined the cast of a new version of the Broadway classic “Pippin,” set to open this month at the Mark Taper Forum in downtown Los Angeles.
Even in the era of such 1960s landmarks as “Jesus Christ Superstar,” the Tony Award®-winning “Pippin” had an eye-opening premise: It is the singing-and dancing coming of age story of the eldest son of the medieval French monarch Charlemagne (731-814 A.D.). With music from Stephen Schwartz, the composer of “Godspell” and “Wicked,” and a production led by Jeff Calhoun of Deaf West Theatre (“Big River”), this new “Pippin” promises to be a memorable theatrical experience.
The production is scheduled to run January 15 through March 5, 2009.
