Theatre for the Performing Arts names award-winning director

The highly regarded repertory company La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts has announced that Brian Kite '91, MFA '04 will become the 30-year-old organization's new Producing Artistic Director.

The Associate Director of the company for several years, Kite recently directed La Mirada's well-reviewed production of "Driving Miss Daisy" to a brace of Ovation Award nominations, including the event's top accolade, “Best Play – Large Theatre.”

Kite's other La Mirada Theatre credits include its critically acclaimed production of "Proof." He has directed all over the world: He recently helmed a production of "Cabaret" in Bermuda, under the patronage of the Queen's Governor.

According to Tom Robinson, La Mirada City Manager, "Brian Kite's enormous talent as a director, his wealth of experience in all aspects of production, and his outstanding relationships across all levels of the artistic community, make him an ideal fit for the position."

"I look forward to building upon the extraordinary work being done here at La Mirada Theatre," Kite said. "I am honored to have been asked to move the organization artistically into its thirtieth year and beyond."
