Our “Picnic and Movie Under the Stars” event, made possible by a generous gift from alumnus Darren Star ’83, was a truly classy affair. Picnic tables and a giant outdoor screen were set up in a beautiful corner of the Sunset Canyon Recreation Center. TFT alumni showed up in force, with kids, blankets and even a few very well behaved dogs.
Guests enjoyed “In and Out” hamburgers, dessert, and wine, courtesy of alumnus Francis Ford Coppola‘s Rubicon winery. Dean Bob Rosen made welcoming remarks and alumnus Andy Marx ’71, grandson of Groucho Marx, introduced the hilarious and astoundingly timely “Duck Soup.” The print, provided by the UCLA Archive, was expertly projected by our chief projectionist and alumnus Jess Daily ’83.
Thanks to Darren, Francis, Andy, Jess and all who made this a very special night. Feedback from our alumni family has been terrific and we hope to make this an annual event.
