Alumnus Brad Silberling directed and wrote “Moonlight Mile,” a story set in the early 70s about a young man who falls in love with another woman while living with his dead fiancee’s parents. This film is slated for release on September 20, 2002.

Alumnus Gore Verbinski ’87 directed “The Ring,” a horror feature about a female journalist who discovers a disturbing videotape with a bizarre history – everyone who’s seen its contents has died within seven days. This film is slated for release on October 18.

His next project is to direct “Pirates of the Caribbean” for Jerry Bruckheimer and the Walt Disney Co, based on the legendary theme park ride.

Alumnus Paul Schrader directed “Auto Focus,” based on the life and death of actor, comedian, and Hogan’s Heroes star Bob Crane (1928-1978). The film is slated for release on October 18.

Alumnus Alexander Payne directed and co-wrote “About Schmidt,” starring Jack Nicholson as a widowed man trying to run his daughter’s life, who realizes he wasted his own life. This film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in May and is slated for release on December 25, 2002.

Alumnus Eric Wald wrote the film “A View From the Top,” starring Gwyneth Paltrow and Christina Applegate. This film is about a small-town woman who tries to become a flight attendant.

Alumnus Paul Schrader co-wrote “Dino,” based on the life and times of screen legend and singer Dean Martin, birth named Dino Crocetti.

Producers Program Professor David Hoberman starts production on Walt Disney’s romantic comedy “Bringing Down the Houze,” starring Steve Martin and Queen Latifah. The project is about a man and his online relationship with a woman in jail.
