Although the Mediascape blog is primarily for UCLA graduate students and faculty, we welcome submissions from scholars and writers outside UCLA. Submissions do not need to be rigorously formal, but should display sound argumentation, clarity, and creative thinking—and, as always, please note your sources! The blog was designed with interaction in mind, so think about how you might invite comments on your posts. Blog submissions may vary in length but should be approximately 500–1,500 words. We accept:
- research and conference paper abstracts
- video essays
- film festival/special screening notes
- media news about UCLA students, faculty, and alumni
- general media-related writing
Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit something that may not fit into one of these categories. Blog posts in some categories are not required to be “timely”; for example, reviews do not need to be only of contemporary movies or television shows. Mediascape may be able to obtain press credentials for someone interested in covering a film festival or industry event.
The blog will update continuously, so there is no formal deadline for submissions. All submissions are reviewed before posting and may be edited for clarity, spelling, and grammar. Format submissions as a Word document and attach them to an email. Include your name, contact information, and a brief bio.
Send submissions or questions to the blog editors at firstname.lastname@example.org.
