Biography

Eric Baum is a native of Berkeley, California. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in history from the University of California at Berkeley in 1980. Following a stint at CAA in the mail room, he opened Big Tree Management in San Francisco, California representing music and comedy talent. Eric graduated from Hasting’s College of the Law, San Francisco, California in 1987. He joined the Law Offices of Sam Perlmutter in Los Angeles in 1988 as a litigation and transactional associate representing among others MGM, Cannon Pictures, Pathe Entertainment, TransWorld Entertainment, Epic Productions, 21st Century Film Corporation, as well as numerous producers, directors, writers, musicians and actors. Eric joined TriStar Pictures, Inc. in 1994 as Senior Counsel in the feature motion picture legal affairs group. At TriStar, Eric was the lead production attorney for numerous features including: “The Fan”, “Jerry Maguire”, “Starship Troopers” and “Godzilla”. In 1999 Eric was promoted to Assistant General Counsel for the Sony Pictures Entertainment, Inc. and Vice President of Business and Legal Affairs for the Columbia Tristar Marketing Group. He has been a guest lecturer at University of San Francisco, UCLA Extension, and the San Francisco Bar Association and is currently serving as Visiting Assistant Professor at UCLA in the department of Film, Television and Digital Media teaching Business and Legal Issues of Motion Picture Production.
