Re-Recording Stage ("Re Re")

Location
Melnitz 1422

The Re-Recording Stage features a G5 computer, Pro Tools HD2 Accel System (PCI-X) with a Control 24 Mixing Console, 192 I/O, Sync I/O, DA88 decks and Video Projector with dual monitoring systems for mixing or for screenings. There workstation features almost 1,000 varieties of plug-ins including TDM Waves Diamond bundle, Focusrite D2/D3 bundle, TC Electronics TC Tools and TC Master X, Line 6 Echo Farm and Digidesign HD2 kit. The Re-Recording Stage is prioritized for Pro Tools mixing of Thesis projects (4-5 days), 402/Advanced projects (2-3 days) and 410 6-minute projects (1-2 days). Other miscellaneous 1-2 day mixes such as 410 2-minute projects, Animation projects and Undergraduate projects must first gain an approved petition from the Vice Chair or Production’s office before being able to request a mix in this stage. All mixes are supervised by a full-time Staff Mixer and are scheduled through the office of the Manager of Digital Post Production Dept. As the Re-Recording Stage is also a relatively good sized movie theater, with lots of theater-style seating, evening classes and events sometimes request to book use of this stage as a lecture and/or screening space. There is a machine rack at the front of the theater with a standard set of decks and remotes for these kind of “self-serve” screenings (DVD, VHS, DV Cam, etc) and its receiver is wired through to the room’s projection system twenty feet above in an un-manned projector booth.
