Flatbed Suites

There are seven Flatbed Suites [2443, 2445, 2449, 2451, 2453, 2455, 2571] dedicated to film editing. Each of the Flatbed Suites contains a single Flatbed machine, take up reels and sync blocks. All of the flatbeds are capable of playing back one roll of 16mm picture and two rolls of 16mm mag track sound at a time. Some of the flatbeds have two picture heads or additional viewers. In total there are 4 Kem flatbed machines and 3 MagnaSync Moviola flatbed machines. Two of the Kem machines [2453, 2455] are able to play either 16mm or 35mm. One of the MagnaSync Moviola flatbeds is located in the “T.A. Edit Room” [2471] reserved for use only when supervised by production faculty or film class TAs.

Directions and Parking

  • From Hilgard Ave. enter the east side of campus at Wyton Dr.
  • Make and immediate right turn onto Charles E. Young Dr. East and signs will direct you to Parking Structure 3.
  • From the ground level of Structure 3, enter the underpass (or from the street level cross Charles E. Young Dr. North and proceed down steps) and walk straight alongside Melnitz and Macgowan Halls.
  • Turn left at the plaza and proceed to the courtyard of theaters.
