Jennifer Moorman

Jennifer Moorman earned her Ph.D. in Cinema and Media Studies from the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television and currently lectures at several universities around Southern California. Her dissertation, Women on Top: Female Pornographers and “Sexperimental” Filmmakers, combines production studies methodologies with textual analysis to assess the gender politics of the adult video industry and other marginal and experimental production cultures. Her publications primarily focus on representations of queer women in serial television programming, and her current research interests center on contemporary American horror television and Iranian women filmmakers’ work as “Post-Third-World-ist” counter-cinema.
