Kristie Roldan’s theatrical designs have been seen on tour nationally as well as around the world in Vancouver, Seoul and Warsaw. She has designed and assisted for many theater, opera and dance companies including the Geffen Playhouse, the Los Angeles Philharmonic at Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Getty Center, Los Angeles Theater Center, Method Contemporary Dance and Speak Theater Arts. Roldan’s most recent work includes the Neon Trees Spring 2014 National tour, All Hail the Queen with Lesli Margherita in Los Angeles and New York, Some Girl(s) at the Geffen Playhouse, and See If You Still Love Us with Method Contemporary Dance.
Ms. Roldan worked with Disney Imagineering at Disneyland where she assisted in the refurbishment and upgrades to several attractions and shops for Disneyland’s 50th anniversary celebration in 2005. Since then, she has brought her theme park, theatrical and live performance experience to projects such as the concert tours of Bruce Springsteen, Styx and Ringo Starr, the TED Conference, and numerous web broadcast, television specials and DVDs including concerts for artists such as Arcade Fire, Fall Out Boy, Chris Cornell, Maroon 5, Crowded House, Rihanna, Smashing Pumpkins, Avril Lavigne, Sheryl Crow and Jay-Z.
Ms. Roldan was honored as one of ETC’s LDI Student Sponsorship winners in 2003, and Entertainment Design’s Young Designers to Watch in 2005. In 2009 she received a Bronze Telly Award for Excellence in Lighting for her work on the concert special John Legend, Live at the Greek.
An active member of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, Ms. Roldan received a bachelor of arts degree from Brown University and an MFA in Lighting Design from the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television.
