Thomas Burns is an award-winning non-fiction filmmaker and director of photography with a deep interest in design and the narrative experience. His background, which includes over a decade of work on feature films, commercials, documentaries, music videos and dramatic episodic television, informs an underlying aesthetic commitment to exploring the visceral relationship between producer and consumer, artist and audience.
He holds a master's degree in documentary film from Stanford University, where one of his films won a Student Academy Award, and his work has screened in gallery exhibition and in film festivals around the world. In 2009 he received the Best Cinematography award at the European Independent Film Festival in Paris. A former U.S. Fulbright Fellow, Burns serves on the Board of Directors for the Los Angeles chapter of the Fulbright Alumni Association.
